House mouse (mus musculus)
House mice are extremely common and do wreak havoc if found in your premises. Mice are known to carry and spread diseases, such as salmonella and listeria which is found in their droppings urine or even nest materials. When you have an infestation, you’ll know as mice urinate a lot giving off a strong odour. They generally nest close to a food source so keeping both inside and out clear of food waste is an absolute must.
Again like Brown rats, gaps and holes are the main ways in which they gain access. The hole size they can use is the same aperture as your small finger.
It’s been reported that mice due to their continuous need to gnaw to maintain their teeth growth have and will chew on electrical cables water pipes gas pipes and wood. All of these can cause potential expensive damage to your property, so don’t delay in contacting us.
When we are investigating mouse issues we will generally start with finding the access points, this could be gaps around pipes or electrical cables, air bricks defective or damaged, holes and gaps.
Again, like Rats.. you should keep your external/internal areas well maintained. Always close your bin lids, don’t store piles of debris in your gardens, keep your bins clean. If damaged speak to your local councils to replace them. Remove the food source, this will assist in helping reducing the population and aid in treatments.
How do we at SPS take the initial call and organises a site visit/treatment.
